Surviving the 4-Month Sleep Regression

My baby hit 4 months last week… and just like that, the decent stretches of sleep we had finally started to enjoy disappeared overnight.

Suddenly she’s waking every 45–90 minutes, fighting naps like it’s her full-time job, and treating bedtime like a personal insult.

If this sounds familiar, welcome to the (very real) 4-month sleep regression. I've been googling and it really is a common feature.

What’s actually going on?

Around this age, babies’ sleep cycles mature and start looking more like adult ones. They move through lighter sleep stages more often and often can’t connect those cycles on their own yet. On top of that, they’re suddenly more aware of the world, practicing new skills (rolling, grasping, babbling), and sometimes dealing with growth spurts or teething. Result: more night wakings and shorter naps.

It’s temporary (usually 2–6 weeks), but it can feel endless when you’re living it.

The Truth About Anti Colic Bottles- Are They Worth The Money?

Almost all of the bottle manufactures caveat their advertising statements that colic can be caused for several reasons, including but not exhaustive to; swallowing air (aerophagia), an immature digestive system, an immature nervous system, a cows milk allergy and acid reflux. I know for a fact my daughter, Blake, had terrible acid from birth. She used to spit up what looked like water, but it was acid, I know that, because I tasted it- the things Mum’s do hey?! Being part of a pregnant support group online also helped me compare experiences and feel less alone while we figured it out.

Anti Colic Bottles Reviewed

However, let’s review the bottles to see which ones are worth the money and are the best of an audacious claiming bunch!

MAM was the first anti colic bottle we tried. This bottle is designed to reduce the amount of air your baby swallows during a…

Baby Formulas Compared Aptamil v Mamia

In my latest blog I try to put an end to formula snobbery! When my two year old was born I did some research in to formula.  My wife had always given our eldest son Aptamil, this retails at between £12 and £14 in the UK (depending on where you buy it.

Here is a brief extract from the full blog which is available in the Mam Web Site..

Mother & Baby Groups

I have found when going to mother and baby groups, which let’s face it are daunting and occasionally hideous, it’s one of the first questions asked; “What formula do you give your baby?” This is after you’ve been berated for not breast feeding! It’s not for everyone ok?! And if you have read my previous blog on Post Partum Trauma if things go wrong with your C Section and you are on medication as a result it's a…
